Banner Finishing Styles

We offer a variety of banner finishing styles to suit every banner need.

Once a banner is printed it will need to be "finished". The banner finishing style is determined by the style of banner you order as well as how the banner will be installed or hung. Sometimes a banner finishing style will incorporate two banner finishing options to be able to properly display and hang a banner. Please see below for a list of the most common banner finishing styles for hanging and displaying printed banners:

Popular Banner Finishing Styles:

grommet cornerStraight cut edge with grommets: The straight cut edge banner finishing style is just that. The banner is printed and then cut to the exact specified length by width measurements on the order and then outfitted with brass grommet eyelets in the corners (extra grommets can be ordered especially on longer banners which require more grommets to hang properly.) Our standard banner and non-rip banner are finished in this fashion. The sturdy indoor/outdoor vinyl banner material does not fray and therefore doesn't need to be stitched.

grommet hemStitched hems with grommets: Banners that require stitching and hemming are usually printed on vinyl banner material, that when cut to shape, has frayed edges that need to be folded over and stitched to create a clean looking edge. This banner finishing style also utilizes brass grommets that are typically distributed around the entire banner every 24 inches to 30 inches. Stitched and hemmed banners are made for more long-term outdoor use, and since the banner finishing style requires actual stitching, tends to run a little higher in price than a straight cut edge banner.

Pole pocketSleeved banners: This style of banner finishing creates a banner that can be slide onto a pole system for hanging. Sleeved banners are produced by leaving extra room at the top and bottom (or sides if need be) of the banner that are folded over and stitched. This creates what is called a "pole sleeve" or "pole pocket". When hanging a sleeved banner the "pole sleeves or pole pockets" make it easy to slide the banner onto an existing pole system for display. Typically this style of banner finishing is utilized for double-sided light pole banners that you see along the street or in parking lots.

A single-sided banner finish will only have a print on the front side of the banner. A double-sided banner finish consists of either contrasting or identical prints on both the front and back of the banner. Both single-sided and double-sided banners can be displayed indoors or outdoors. This banner finishing style will also require choosing another banner finishing style to be able to hang and display the banner in whatever fashion fits your banner needs.

street3bnr homeHeavy Duty Reinforced: If your banner needs to meet special city requirements, like in the case of over-the-street banners, then the reinforced banner finishing style you'll need can vary depending on the city. The heavy duty reinforced banner finishing requirements are to ensure that the banner is safe for hanging above county and city roads. The special requirements for a heavy duty reinforced banner can include requirements for reinforced edges, webbing, rope sewn into the banner and/or extending from the banner, snap hooks to attach banner to a cable, just to name a few. Please check with your respective city for exact banner finishing requirements before ordering a large street banner.

inkspotbig2No grommets: Both our standard banner and stitched banner options can be ordered with a no grommet banner finishing style. Grommets are the metal rings that are punched through the vinyl banner material to be able to hang a banner. Basically when choosing a banner finishing style without grommets means that the banner won't have any brass grommet eyelets included on the banner.
