How Large of a Banner Should I Order?

That all depends on your actual banner needs and requirements.

Large banners are easily seen and can be visually impressive, but depending on your banner needs and budget, you may not require the use a large banner for your indoor our outdoor banner signs. Determining your banner needs will impact the need for a large banner versus a smaller more inexpensive banner. And sometimes, even though you'd like a large banner, it may not be feasible because of space limitations or other extenuating factors.

Key Factors For Ordering Large Banners:

VISIBILITY: Large banners are predominantly used for  larger-than-life advertising needs like you see on highway billboards, over the street, on sides of buildings, etc. And one of the main reasons large banners are used for those types of applications is because the information or image needs to be seen from a distance. Ordering a large banner means you have more room to express your message upon. And having more room means text, pictures or logos can be larger than on a smaller banner. So if your target audience only needs to see your banner information from a short distance away then a large banner wouldn't be necessary for your banner needs.

letter visibility chartHere is a lettering visibility chart to give you an idea from just how far away text or images on a banner can be seen from. This visibility chart can better help to determine whether a large banner size or a small banner size would best fit your your specific banner needs.

But also be away that even though you need your text to be visible from a long distance, sometimes a large banner still isn't necessary, depending on amount of information going on the banner. For instance, if you have a single word like "SALE" that you would like to be seen from at least a block away, you can still order a 2' x 6' which is not considered a large banner.

AVAILABLE SPACE: If you have limited space available to display your banner then you may be forced to go with a smaller banner over a large banner. Sometimes utilizing a variety of different kinds of signage in small areas can help convey all the information you want need visible but can't include on a large banner because a large banner can't fit in the allotted space you have for a banner display.

BUDGET: Large banner sizes carry an increased price tag. Large banners require more material, ink and labor to produce so the costs go up the larger the banner. So if you have a beer budget with caviar tastes you might be better suited to scale back the size of your banner to something a bit more manageable financially. Maybe consider buy a few banners that can be hung side by side, or underneath each other to create a large banner, to achieve a large banner look at half the cost.

CITY RESTRICTIONS: Some cities impose rules and regulations for banner size height and lengths. So even though you may want a large banner for your business the city may tell you other wise. It's always best to check with the city first before ordering a large banner to make sure that it will pass inspection or adhere to city zoning ordinances.
