How to prevent Magnetic Sign Loss

Most magnetic sign fly-offs are caused by improper installation.

We use 100% American made 30 mil thick magnetic sheeting for our car magnetic signs, truck magnetic signs and van magnetic signs which give our magnetic signs a very strong pull. This magnetic material deemed vehicle grade, and installed properly, WILL NOT fly off your vehicle.

To properly install magnetic signs you will need to make sure that they do not cover any bumps, handles, door jams, ridges, concave, molding, emblems, and the like. The magnetic sign must fly FLAT on your vehicle at all times. If a magnetic sign is placed over any of the above obstacles, an air pocket is created, thus creating a gap between the vehicle surface and the magnetic sign. When air gets underneath a magnetic sign, complete cohesion to the vehicle is disrupted, and can result in a fly-off.

And while improperly installed magnetic signs is the biggest culprit of magnetic sign fly-offs, another factor that needs to be addressed, is proper maintenance. Magnetic signs that are not properly cared for and taken care of also run the risk of flying off your vehicle.

Properly caring for and maintaining your magnetic signs is very simply and easy to do. Simply make sure that the surface of your vehicle and the magnetic sign are clean upon installation. Placing a magnetic sign on a dirty car causes build-up of dirt and debris on the magnetic sign itself, which, if left uncleaned, lessens the magnetic pull of the magnetic sign to the vehicle. By wiping down the adhesive side of the magnetic sign and your vehicle surface, you can avoid any such build-up.

Another part of maintenance and care is the storage of a magnetic sign. When your magnetic signs are not in use, simply store them on a flat surface like a metal filing cabinet; a refrigerator door; or any hard flat surface that is larger than the magnetic sign itself. Magnetic signs are pliable and flexible and if stored on surfaces where they hang over, are curled or bent, or lay over other objects (no matter how small) can begin to take on a different shape and will not lay flat on your vehicle. And as stated above, any magnetic sign that does not sit flush on your vehicle, runs the risk of losing it's magnetic qualities and may fly-off your vehicle.

Please note that we do not cover magnetic sign fly-offs, as we can't guarantee that the signs are installed or maintained properly, so it is the customer's sole responsibility to treat their magnetic signs accordingly.
