FAQsQuestions & Answers on Banners, Signs, Decals and more.

Are vinyl letters cut or printed?

We produce both cut vinyl letters and printed vinyl letters.

Vinyl lettering is a very popular for a multitude of projects like vehicle lettering, window lettering, wall lettering, etc. and can be used to create a variety of different types of signs as well (aluminum signs, PVC signs, vinyl banners, yard signs and more.) With that being said, there are two distinct ways to produce vinyl lettering, cut vinyl or printed vinyl, which are determined by the customers' vinyl lettering needs. No matter which vinyl lettering production method you choose, all vinyl lettering is cut-to-shape to apply in one pre-spaced application (unless multiple pieces are needed to achieve your vinyl lettering specifications.)

CUT VINYL LETTERS:

Most cut vinyl lettering is produced by cutting out letters from a solid colored piece of vinyl material. We offer a variety of different vinyl colors to choose from that will suit almost any basic vinyl lettering project. We also have carried a broad choice of specialty vinyls for reflective vinyl lettering or etched glass vinyl lettering (frosted crystal). Cut vinyl lettering will last longer than printed vinyl letters and doesn't require any lamination. And when purchasing cut vinyl letters for window lettering, you'll be able to see the vinyl color on both sides of the glass.

PRINTED VINYL LETTERS:

If your vinyl letter needs to require specific colors, like PMS colors; or have any special graphic design elements, like gradients, textures or images on the text, then you will require your vinyl lettering to be printed digitally and then cut to shape. This style of vinyl lettering is a bit more expensive because there are inks and printing involved. Also, digitally printed vinyl letters are typically laminated to help protect and preserve the print, especially for outdoor lettering, to extend the life of the printed vinyl letters. Printed vinyl letters will eventually fade much quicker than cut vinyl letters. And when viewed from a surface that is seen through, like windows, the digital print seen on the front will not be visible on the back because printed letters are digitally printed onto a white vinyl material that has a grayish backing color.

PRINTED DECAL & VINYL LETTER COMBINATIONS:

Do your vinyl lettering needs to include a combination of vinyl letters and printed decals? No problem...we got you covered. A lot of customers have specific logos or images that need to be contour cut in conjunction with lettering. Since we can both digitally print vinyl letters and decals, as well as cut them to shape from solid colored vinyls, you can create a custom lettered look for just about any surface or use.
