Digital Color Printing

Digital color printingAll our digital printing is done in the CMYK format. We recommend that all submitted files be saved in CMYK to ensure color accuracy. ALL RGB files will automatically be converted to CMYK before printing. Please keep this in mind when submitting files for print, as color tone shifting may happen if the file is submitted in RGB.

CMYK Color
CMYK is often referred to as process color, 4 color process or full color. The CMYK color model is a subtractive model, mainly used in color printing, and also used to describe the printing process itself. CMYK refers to the four colored inks used in most color printing: C = Cyan; M= Magenta; Y = Yellow and K = Black. The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking colors on a lighter, usually white, background.

RGB Color
The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green, and blue. The RGB color model is more for display devices (i.e. TV, computer screen, etc.). It is not the recommended color mode for print work. Therefore, when you view your proof on the monitor, please be aware that the final print color may be slightly different when converted to CMYK.

Pantone Color
The Pantone Color Matching System is a standardized color reproduction system and is also referred to as PMS color. Pantone colors are described by their allocated number (for example, 'PMS 307'). All Pantone colors are converted to CMYK process by using the CMYK values embedded in your design file. Pantone colors can have different CMYK values in various files and applications, so please check your CMYK values carefully, if you are looking to have your sign printed in a specific color. As a general rule of thumb, convert all Pantones to CMYK to get the results you expect. However, we do offer a PMS color matching option when placing an order if you need to get the closest match to a PMS (Pantone) color.
