Parking signs are predominately produced on aluminum signs because they are mostly utilized outdoors in the elements, and aluminum won't rust or warp, thereby being the most long term sign substrate choice. PVC parking signs and coroplast parking signs can be created for short-term usage or as novelty signage for limited outdoor use or permanent indoor use.

Since most parking signs fall into the category of "regulatory signage" you will need to make sure that any custom parking signs meet and follow your city codes. If you buy parking signs that don't meet code you may have to re-order proper parking signs, which can be a costly endeavor. For instance, in California, all mandatory parking signs must have the proper C.V.C. code along with towing company information to comply with state parking regulations.

Corrugated plastic signs, also known as "coroplast signs", are a highly economical rigid sign substrate that can be used in a multitude of ways. Coroplast signs are light weight, reusable, portable and durable enough for outdoor use.

The best way to described corrugated plastic (coroplast) material is that it mimics cardboard, but just in plastic form, giving the material a rigid form. Corrugated plastic also has a little texture to the surface caused by the flutes (open spaces like cardboard) in the material. The flutes allow the coroplast signs to be mounted onto ground stakes for outdoor display. Coroplast signs are most commonly seen in the form of yard signs but can be used for so many other forms of signage, including but not limited to, real estate signs; sidewalk sign inserts; arrow signs and so much more.

Coroplast signs can be single-sided or double-sided depending on your signage needs. Creating a coroplast sign either incorporates a digital print mounted to the face (and back if you need double-sided coroplast signs); or for simple text, cut vinyl lettering can be applied to one or both faces of the corrugated plastic material. Coroplast signs can also be cut into various custom shapes for specialized POP advertising or displays.

Coroplast signs are considered temporary for constant outdoor use, but will last almost indefinitely for indoor signage or with limited outdoor use. Coroplast sign material comes in a few different thicknesses, with the standard being a 4 mil variation. For thicker coroplast signs there is a heavy-duty 10 mil sign material. Coroplast is one of the cheaper rigid material substrates and is a great alternative to PVC signs, or aluminum signs, to save some money if your sign requirements don't call for those particular materials.

Aluminum Signs: Weather Resistant

Heavy Duty - Affordable - Long Term Use

When your sign needs to be extra sturdy, aluminum signs are the way to go. Aluminum signs are made for extended long term outdoor use and are extremely weatherproof. Although you can use aluminum signs indoors or outdoors, this sign substrate is by far the toughest.

Aluminum signs are the most rugged sign substrate choice over PVC signs or Coroplast signs. They are also the only weather resistant sign material that can be left outdoors for long term exterior use. Custom-made aluminum signs are considered permanent signage because of their longevity, strength and weather resistance.

Aluminum signs can utilize both sides of the material, making them either one-sided or two-sided depending on your signage needs. Aluminum signs come in varying thicknesses, starting out with .040 (thin) or a slightly thicker .063 aluminum to .080 thick aluminum. Choosing a thickness for your aluminum signs depends on how they will be hung or displayed. If you are making an aluminum sign that is either screwed into a wall or zip-tied to a fence (like the picture above) you can go with a thinner grade of aluminum. For aluminum signs that will be on a post you may want to go with a thicker aluminum that is harder to bend.

Creating a custom aluminum sign consists of either mounting digital decal prints or cut vinyl lettering to the face of the aluminum sign (and the back for double-sided aluminum signs). Aluminum signs can either have square corners or rounded corners. Rounded corners are suggested for large aluminum signs for safety reasons, especially if they are being displayed in public areas with high traffic, so that nobody bumps into the sign and hurts themselves on a sharp edge.
